In a hurry? Short on space? Short on time? Then short forms and abbreviations are what you need. When taking notes or writing, creating your own short forms is fine (as long as you remember what they mean). However, if you're Tweeting or texting or writing for an audience, you need to use abbreviations that everyone will understand.
Abbreviations.com is a great tool. you can choose to look up a word, abbreviation , or hmm... what was that third choice? Take a look and tell me. Abbreviations.com also is a good resource for quotations.
